Canoe Kids Camp is a dynamic, weekly program designed for youth ages 8-14 who want to explore the world of paddle sports in a safe, supportive, and exciting environment. Whether campers are brand-new to paddling or have some previous experience, our program focuses on building confidence, athletic skills, and a lifelong love of being active on the water.
Hosted next to the Welland International Flatwater Centre, campers enjoy access to a world-class flatwater venue on a calm canal, an ideal setting for learning, practicing, and playing on the water. With certified instructors and a fun-first approach, each day is filled with discovery, challenges, and plenty of smiles.
Campers will learn the fundamentals of several paddle sport disciplines, including sprint canoe and kayak, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), and dragon boating, keeping campers active and engaged while they develop balance, coordination, strength, and team building skills.
Everyday will include a blend of on-water adventure and creative off-water programming. Activities will include mini-competitions to test growing skills, dryland games and athletic development activities, goal-setting challenges, crafts, and friendship-building games.
Have a camper who is more competitive and looking to learn more about on-water racing? Consider signing them up for the Kids Competitive Racing Camp, designed for those ages 10-14 years who are interested in competing in sprint canoe and/or sprint kayak regattas. This camp is at least 3 weeks in length and provides additional focused training with qualified coaches and competitive athletes to prepare youth for the races. This camp includes registration in the Western Ontario Divisional regatta in July.
Canoe Kids Camp is a weekly camp that will run each week for a total of 8 weeks beginning June 29th, from 9:00am to 4:00pm (with before- and after-care availability for an additional nominal fee beginning at 8:00am to 5:00pm).
Therefore, the dates are as follows:
· Week #1: June 29 – July 3 (no camp July 1st – 4 day week)
· Week #2: July 6 – 10
· Week #3: July 13 – 17
· Week #4: July 20 – 24
· Week #5: July 27 – 31
· Week #6: August 4 – 7 (no camp Monday August 3rd – 4 day week)
· Week #7 – August 10 – 14
· Week #8 – August 17 – 21
· Week #9 – August 24-28 (limit to 10 campers or less)
Discounts will be offered for families who register more than one child and for more than one week in advance.
15% discount was offered February 1 – 15 to previous years campers
10% discount was offered February 16 – March 15 for early bird campers
Kids Competitive Racing Camp will run for a 3-week minimum (15 days). The times each day align with the Canoe Kids Camp.
The dates are as follows:
· July 6 – 10
· July 13 – 17
· July 20 – 24
The discounted per/week rate that is paid for this camp can be applied to further weeks if desired.
